The ready-made garment (RMG) exports of Egypt may record US $ 1.6 billion by the start of 2019. This was announced by Mohamed Al Sayad, Export Manager, Ready Made Garments Export Council of Egypt (RMGEC).
Al Sayad further added that the incentives offered by the Government to encourage the export performance will be a major factor in helping the country achieve its target.
He added that one of the main goals of RMGEC is to increase the number of small and medium exporters to 300, in addition to increasing RMG exports by 10 per cent (to achieve US $ 1.6 billion).
Besides, the council is also keen to participate in apparel exhibitions and fairs overseas especially across USA and European nations, which cover 85 per cent of Egypt’s RMG exports.
“We also plan to increase the number of workers from 1 million to 2 million by the start of 2019.” – Mohamed Al Sayad, Export Manager, Ready Made Garments Export Council, Egypt
The country has been undertaking economic reforms to make possible the above goals and is at present employing strategies to align with Egypt’s 2030 vision for sustainable development. The country aims at attracting more exporters and more funds from financial bodies and institutions.
RMGEC is also coordinating with some institutions in providing training and financing facilities to exporters to enhance the RMG exports.
