Dileep Baid, has taken over the charge as the new Chairman of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH). Earlier he was serving as Vice-Chairman of the council. He took charge from Raj Kumar Malhotra during the 183rd meeting of the Committee of Administration (CoA) held in Jaipur.
EPCH is a nodal agency for the promotion of exports of handicrafts from the country. The handicrafts exports during the year 2022-23 were Rs. 29,426.38 crore and US $ 3583.52 million
Dileep, a first-generation entrepreneur is heading Dileep Trading Corporation, Jaipur which is a leading handicrafts exporter from the northern region for over three decades.
Dileep expressed his gratitude to members of the Committee of Administration of EPCH and members for their confidence in him. He emphasised that the handicraft sector needs emerging trends and design intervention in product development, packaging innovation, brand building, enhanced productivity, quality and standards, sustainable development, and compliances so that products are competitive in the global market.
Dileep laid down the target of handicraft export increase by 30 times by 2030 goal for 2030 (“Teen Guna Tees Tak”.)
EPCH also organised a Symposium on ‘Handicrafts Vision-2030’ for member exporters which helped participants to understand the current landscape of the handicrafts sector, identifying challenges and opportunities for growth and innovation, exploring emerging trends and technologies relevant to handicrafts sector, develop strategies to improve market competitiveness, encourage sustainable practices and ethical production and establishing collaborative networking partnerships.
