Dr. A. Sakthivel, President of Tirupur Exporters’ Association informed that a delegation from Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) under the Chairmanship of Faruque Hassan, Senior Vice President, BGMEA and other exporters. Asif Ashraf, Tapan Kumar Saha, A.N.M. Anwarlala Azim from the leading groups visited Tirupur Exporters’ Association today morning to discuss about the implementation of Zero Liquid Discharge in their Effluent Treatment Plants in Bangladesh. The team visited two CETPs in Tirupur and proud of them since ZLD has implemented in the neighbouring country India.
TEA Chief added that the Bangladesh Government is very keen to implement the Zero Liquid Discharge in their Effluent Treatment Plants, they have only Individual Effluent Treatment Plants, within next four years and for this, they have roped in institute for industrial productivity, an NGO based in USA to advise and implement the same. As Tamil Nadu Water Investment Company, Chennai have helped Tirupur CETPs for implementation of ZLD, the institute for industrial productivity has approached them and they will have a MoU with TWIC and go for implementation of ZLD. He also sought the help of TEA and DAT for their advice in implementation of ZLD.
Additionally, TEA has appealed for the implementation of export measures to arrest downfall of exports as Tirupur knitwear exports has declined by 7.3% in the month of August compared to the corresponding month of last year 2014-15.
