During a recent seminar held by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), experts highlighted the crucial need for enhanced collaboration and synchronisation between the industry and academia even as they emphasised such cooperation was essential for ensuring future economic development and addressing the existing skill mismatch.
The seminar, titled Industry-Academia Linkage: Employability of Graduates in the Changing Global Context, was graced by the presence of Dipu Moni, Member of Parliament and the Education Minister, as the Chief Guest, along with Nasreen Afroz, Executive Chairman (Secretary) of the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA), who served as the guest of honor.
Dipu Moni, the Education Minister, underscored the importance of commercialising research and development initiatives even as she noted that significant changes were already underway in the national curriculum system, with a focus on incorporating soft skills, re-skilling and up-skilling, teamwork development, technology adoption, mindset transformation, demand analysis, and expediting technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
