After almost a week’s relaxation, on account of Eid-ul-Azha, Bangladesh has again imposed a strict countrywide lockdown to stem the spread of coronavirus cases in the country.
Media reports maintained this while adding the lockdown has started from 6am of 23 July and would continue till midnight of 5 August, unless extended any further by the Government.
Further, this time around, all commercial establishments, offices and all manufacturing units except those providing emergency services have been asked to remain shut even as no exceptions have been made for garment factories and other export-oriented industries, which were allowed to operate in the previous lockdowns.
It may be mentioned here that keeping in consideration the holy festival of Eid-ul-Azha and to facilitate Eid-centric trading activities, the Government had relaxed the lockdown for a period of eight days starting 15 July.
Earlier, the garment makers had taken up the issue of the lockdown, if the garment industry could be exempted from the same, with the Government, as per reports.
