Thanks to the strong rebound in Bangladesh’s foreign trade, the overall container handling by 17 private depots in the country grew by nearly 16 per cent in the past year to cross 1.0 million TEUs.
Media reports maintained this adding, the 16 per cent growth was in comparison to the previous year even as the volume crossed 1.0 million TEUs for the first time since inception of the ICD (inland container depot) business in the country, in the late 1980s.
Meanwhile, the export-cargo handling, reportedly, grew more than 25 per cent in 2021 consequent to a robust rebound following the opening up of economies in North America and Europe.
Speaking to the media, Managing Director at QNS (a depot in Chittagong), Nurul Qayyum Khan, reportedly, said, “This is a charisma as we grew more than 25 per cent….”
