Chittagong Custom House (CCH) is to open on Saturday, 17th August to accommodate importers and exporters, as per the authority’s decision, as per reports.
This was revealed in an office directive that was issued by Deputy Commissioner Imam Ghazzali on the Chattogram Customs Commissioner’s behalf, directing that the office remain open on Saturday and continue with official business as usual.
Various activities linked to customs clearance at CCH have come to a halt because to the recent political upheaval, sources stated.
The port has a significant container accumulation due to the suspension of customs clearance for a few days. In a similar vein, private stores accumulated mountains of export items. Customs is moving more quickly to handle this matter.
Banks are closed on Saturday, but CCH will open, according to Kazi Mahmud Imam Bilu, general secretary of the Chattogram Customs Agent Association. According to CCH sources, all duties must be deposited in a bank. In the customs house, just the paperwork is completed.
