In a bid to deepen ties between Pakistan and China, a 20-member Chinese delegation comprising Chinese entrepreneurs held business-to-business (B2B) meetings with Pakistani entrepreneurs.
The meeting took place at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Friday.
At the meeting, China showed keen interest in investing in several of Pakistan’s industries, including textiles. This took place against the backdrop of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) — a mutual move speculated to change the fate of Pakistan, while promoting the cordial friendship by both the countries.
Addressing the meeting, LCCI senior vice-president Almas Hyder said that repeated visits by the Chinese trade delegations are not only proof of cordial relations between the two countries, but also show keenness of Chinese businessmen in strengthening working relations with their Pakistani counterparts.

Speaking on the occasion, LCCI vice-president Nasir Saeed said, Pakistan, owing to its location, could be a more viable destination for Chinese investments. “Pakistan is offering liberal investment policies, allowing 100 per cent foreign equity and equal treatment to local and foreign investors. Pakistan has a network of Export Processing Zones and industrial estates ready to accommodate Chinese investors especially in Punjab,” he added.
According to him, globalisation has presented a golden opportunity to the Chinese investors to relocate their large-scale industry to Pakistan and reap the benefits of its more viable business policies.
Chinese enterprises value Pakistan, and have agreed to scale up the relationship in several priority sectors, including value-added textile manufactures and textile machinery.
