USA fell in its denim apparel imports by 3.16 per cent in 2019! The country imported denim apparels worth US $ 3,737.98 million, according to the latest released data by OTEXA.
Mexico and China, top two denim apparel exporters to USA, plunged in their exports by 1.84 per cent and 25.68 per cent, respectively. Mexico clocked US $ 802.55 million in its denim apparel exports, while China could just hit US $ 696.13 million figure as against US $ 936.70 million worth of shipment in 2018.
Overall China fell by around 9 per cent in its RMG exports to USA and, seeing the fall in denim category, it can be stated denim remained one of the main products that created turmoil in dwindling export performance of the biggest apparel exporter in the world.
On the other hand, Bangladesh managed to see growth in 2019 as it shipped denim apparels worth US $ 585.91 million to USA, marking 3.50 per cent growth. Whereas Vietnam noted massive growth of 25.60 per cent to ship denim apparels worth US $ 372.34 million and narrowed the gap with Bangladesh.
As far as India is concerned, USA is the biggest export destination for the country; however, when it comes to denim apparel category, India stands nowhere among top manufacturing hubs. India’s export revenue from denim apparel segment stood at just US $ 45.56 million which grew by 21.80 per cent over 2018.
Apart from these top manufacturing destinations, Ethiopia which has been an emerging manufacturing hub noted 464.76 per cent growth and steered its export revenues in denim apparel segment from US $ 3.41 million in 2018 to US $ 19.28 million in 2019.
Denim apparels constitute 4 product categories namely – blue denim jeans (MB), blue denim jeans (WG), blue skirts and blue denim jackets.
