Garment exporters have underlined that many global buyers have put on hold work orders with some factories on the ground that there is still uncertainty if garment manufacturing units would be allowed to operate during the upcoming 14-day lockdown, starting 23 July.
Media reports maintained this while adding that BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, reportedly, maintained that buyers are worried about their supply of goods and are sending mails and messages or making phone calls to know what would happen over the lockdown even as he added that no BGMEA member has complained about buyers cancelling work orders up until now; however, many members have been, reportedly, complaining to him about placement of work orders.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, a garment exporter, reportedly, underlined that many buyers have already been following a go-slow policy pertaining to placement of work orders in view of possible imposition of lockdowns, although they were not yet cancelling the orders already placed.
