Underlining the significance and importance of the readymade garment industry, the President of the garment makers’ body (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan maintained that the sector is not only making contributions towards the socio-economic development of Bangladesh but also bringing glory to the country.
Speaking at a recent event, ‘Sustainability of Apparel Industry of Bangladesh: Policies, Scopes, and Constrains’, jointly organised by ESTex Foundation and Solidaridad Network Asia in capital Dhaka, the BGMEA President stated that the apparel industry is carrying the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ trademark across the globe, adding, “we all are proud of it.”
Furuque Hassan further, reportedly, added next phase of the country’s economic growth will predominantly depend on the industrial sectors and the apparel industry will play a prime role in it.
“…it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the industry,” maintained the BGMEA chair, adding the industry belongs to everyone of Bangladesh and the development of this sector means the development of the country.
