
Underlining that some garment manufacturing units are operating in Malibagh, Uttarkhan, Badda, Mirpur, Rampura and Dakshinkhan, Faruque Hassan, the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), has requested the chief of the Industrial Police (IP) to consider extending IP zones to these areas.
Reports maintained this while adding the BGMEA chief made this request during a meeting with Shafiqul Islam, Additional Inspector General of Industrial Police, during which they discussed the law-and-order situation in the apparel sector keeping in consideration the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as well as the upcoming Eid-ul Azha.
The BGMEA President while praising the IP in maintaining harmonious industrial relations between workers and factory owners, thanked the specialised unit of the Bangladesh Police for providing support and cooperation to the garment industry by assuring security and a peaceful atmosphere while the Additional Inspector General of Industrial Police on his part, reportedly, assured the BGMEA Industrial Police would extend all-out support and cooperation to the readymade garment industry.
