
Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is looking at opportunities for sharing knowledge and expertise in the apparel and textile sector through collaboration between leading Chinese textile and fashion universities and institutes and the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology.
Media reports claimed this while adding, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan recently called on the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen to deliberate on the same even as chair of the BGMEA Standing Committee on Foreign Mission Cell Shams Mahmud, BGMEA Director Tanvir Ahmed and Chinese Embassy Economic and Commercial counsellor Song Yang were present during the meeting.
Both sides dwelt on the scope of expanding bilateral trade between the two countries even as they also discussed how China and Bangladesh can derive more mutual trade benefits through further collaboration, especially in the apparel and textile sector.
