
Faruque Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), urged students to prepare for their roles as responsible, compassionate, and capable individuals capable of making a positive impact on the world.
Delivering an inspiring speech at an orientation event for incoming freshmen organised by the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB), he encouraged students to pursue excellence, embrace challenges, and forge their own paths with determination and passion.
The event, held at the IUB campus in Dhaka, featured prominent figures including Didar A Husain, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Professor Tanweer Hasan, PhD, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan, PhD, Pro-Vice Chancellor; and Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider, Treasurer.
Addressing the audience as the chief guest, Faruque Hassan emphasised the disparity between classroom education and real-world performance.
He underscored the importance of practical experiences, internships, and interactions with professionals in students’ respective fields of interest, stating that real-life training and industry orientation programmes are essential to bridge this gap.
