Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA),is pinning hopes on burgeoning Asian markets and the growing use of non-cotton apparels as it aims to achieve apparel export target of US $100 billion by 2030 even as the garment makers’ body is drawing up a roadmap to hit the target, in association with a global lender and an international research firm.
Media reports maintained this while citing the concerned officials.
Speaking to the media, BGMEA chair Faruque Hassan, reportedly, said, “I hope we can complete the preparation of the roadmap within 3 months.”
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh’s apparel shipments in the fiscal year of 2021-22 clocked 35.47 per cent year-on-year growth, earning US $ 42.61 billion in apparel exports.
