During the week of 5th-7th April, scheduled bank branches in the ready-made garment (RMG) industrial districts will stay open to support export-import transactions and pay wages, bonuses, and allowances to garment workers.
Through a circular, Bangladesh Bank (BB) instructed the scheduled banks. The central bank has advised banks to continue operations before Eid-ul-Fitr in the branches located near garment industrial areas in Dhaka city, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram to ensure adequate security.
The central bank has set office hours for 5th April from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm and 6th and 7th April from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm per the central bank’s directive.
On 5th April, however, people will be able to conduct banking transactions from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, and on 6th and 7th April, from 9.30 am to 1 pm.
