
Propelled by moderate performance of knitwear, woven garments, jute and jute-made goods and leather products along with agricultural products, Bangladesh’s export earnings in November 2015, registered a healthy growth of 13.73 per cent totalling at US $ 2,749.34 million as against US $ 2,417.43 million earned during the corresponding period in last fiscal year, according to reports.

According to data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) recently, export earnings in the first five months (from July to November, 2015) showed a moderate growth of 6.71 per cent totalling US $ 12,879.83 million, which was a mere 0.01 per cent higher than the strategic target of US $ 12,879 million while export earnings during the July-November period of the last fiscal year totalled US $ 12,070.08 million. The single-month export performance was however, 16.70 per cent higher than the strategic target of US $ 2,356 million.
The figures released by Bangladesh’s EPB also points out that for the July-November period of the current fiscal, knitwear exports maintained its positive trend fetching US $ 5,236.73 million, which showed 4.78 per cent growth over the same period of the last fiscal while woven garment accounted for US $ 5,226.03 million registering a growth of 11.35 per cent.

During the five-month period, export of home textiles also totalled US $ 276.73 million, the EPB data stated.
The export trend for leather products except leather and plastic products maintained their upward trend during the July-November period of the current fiscal. While leather exports totalled US $ 109.85 million, leather products fetched US $ 145.71 million with an eye-catching growth of 65.92 per cent and cotton and cotton products together earned US $ 40.58 million. The export of jute and jute goods also maintained their positive trend during the July-November period of the current fiscal fetching US $ 358.60 million, registering 2.86 per cent growth while raw jute exports fetched US $ 73.61 million with 70.35 per cent rise and jute yarn and twine accounted for US $ 206.18 million.
