Thanks to the decent performance by the apparel sector in terms of exports, Bangladesh for the first time ever in the outgoing fiscal has crossed US $ 50 billion in export earnings.
Media reports maintained this adding the country has become a member of the US $ 50 billion export income club by exporting goods and services around US $ 50.37 billion, while adding the final export earnings will be released by the country’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) early next month.
Reports further citing sources within the EPB underlined Bangladesh has earned US $ 47.17 billion from exporting goods and services during the July-May period of the current fiscal (2021-22) even if readymade garments worth around US $ 3.20 billion have already been exported in first 25 days of June, ensuring the threshold was crossed even before final numbers are in.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, EPB Vice-Chairman AHM Ahsan, reportedly, stated exports usually fall slightly in May and June while adding despite this, exports of goods will exceed US $ 50 billion in the current financial year.
