Notwithstanding the overall apparel exports decline of 7.52 per cent registered in September 2022, Bangladesh’s garment exports to the United States of America (USA) increased by 34.63 per cent.
Reports claimed this while adding as per industry insiders, this increase in exports was primarily due to the shifting of orders from China.
Speaking to the media, the former Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Md Fazlul Hoque, reportedly maintained there were two reasons for Bangladesh’s export growth in the US.
“One is shifting of orders from China to other manufacturing countries and another is increasing demand for knitwear products,” reportedly said Fazlul while adding buyers from US were shifting their orders from China in large volumes to Bangladesh apart from countries like India and Vietnam.
