Bangladesh has withdrawn a provision requiring fumigation of US cotton, claimed Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh recently even as Bangladesh has once again reiterated its demand for duty-free market access to apparel made from US cotton.
This is as per reports, which added this information was shared by Tapan Kanti Ghosh at a recent press conference even as Bangladesh reportedly placed the demand for the same during a meeting with senior officials of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) at the secretary’s office even as the country has demanded the same earlier as well in the last meeting of the Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (TICFA) in Washington.
It may be mentioned here the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan has also been demanding the same even as he also reportedly sent letters in this direction last month to the governors and senators of different of the USA.
