Tanners in Bangladesh have collected around 5.5 lakh pieces of rawhides directly in the first two days of Eid-ul-Azha, which is up 83 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y).
According to media reports, this was underlined by the Chairman of Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) Md Shaheen Ahamed at a press briefing recently adding, last time around, the tannery owners bought around 3 lakh pieces of raw leather directly from the people who sacrificed animals in the first two days of Eid.
Meanwhile, according to the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry, a total of 99,50,763 animals were sacrificed this Eid, up 9.4 per cent Y-o-Y.
