Even as industries in Bangladesh continue to grapple with irregular and inadequate gas supply amidst the business bodies urging the Government to import gas from global market to deal with the crisis, expressing willingness to pay higher for the same, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a recent meeting with the secretaries of different ministries, reportedly gave direction to resume LNG import while also disciplining the dollar rate as she reviewed the overall economic situation and the related issues in Bangladesh.
Media reports maintained this citing the sources.
Reports further added the secretaries concerned have reportedly also been asked to further tighten the import of unnecessary items so as to lower the spending of the foreign currency as the forex reserves are gradually going down.
It may be mentioned here that these two issues had lately emerged as the major challenges for the industries in Bangladesh, especially the domestic textile mills.
