Bangladesh has managed to retain nearly 67 per cent garment export receipts, thanks to increasing use of local raw materials.
Media reports maintained this while adding that as per data from the Export Promotion Bureau and the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), the retention value of the exported apparel surged 36.36 per cent to US $ 28.5 billion in the financial year of 2021-22 from what was US $ 20.9 billion a year earlier and going on to add that it means Bangladesh was able to retain US $ 28.5 billion in FY ’22, accounting for 66.88 per cent of the total garment export receipts of US $ 42.61 billion in the financial year.
It may be mentioned here that the retention value in the garment sector in 2019-20 was US $ 18 billion out of the total shipment of US $ 28.7 billion.
