Bangladesh, one of the leading exporters of denim apparels in the world, witnessed a rise in its denim apparel exports to the USA, during January to May 2018 period. According to the latest data released by the OTEXA and analysed by Apparel Resources, Bangladesh experienced a growth of 20.52 per cent as compared to the previous year and exported denim apparels worth US $ 172.74 million to the USA in the mentioned period.
Bangladesh posted a surge in all four categories of denim apparels that include denim skirts, jackets, Men & Boys (MB) Jeans as well as Women & Girls Jeans (WG).
Bangladesh stood second in terms of MB denim jeans category as well as WG denim jeans category. Men and Boys jeans export was worth US $ 94.538 million, up by 21.15 per cent, whereas Women and Girls denim jeans exported to US were worth US $ 71.909 million with a growth of 19.90 per cent.
On the other hand, Jackets and Skirts category witnessed a surge of 29.13 per cent and 8.90 per cent respectively, and in terms of value, Jackets fetched US $ 3.160 million and skirts acquired US $ 3.119 million in the US market.
Notably, Bangladesh beat Vietnam in terms of denim apparel exports as it only exported denim apparels worth US 78. 164 million to the US for the mentioned period. Somehow, for the MB jeans category Bangladesh surpassed China in terms of value. The MB jeans could earn US $ 68. 214 million to beat China in the US market.
