Australian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Jeremy Bruer recently confirmed there were no plans to change the zero-duty structure Bangladesh currently enjoys after the LDC graduation while adding it was up to country (Bangladesh) to remain competitive by ensuring its capacity to do so while also underlining the bilateral relationship between the two countries was good and has potential for further growth.
Media reports maintained this adding Jeremy Bruer also maintained Australia also recognised Bangladesh’s extraordinary development over the past 20 years or so.
Trade between the two countries had grown 550 per cent before Covid-19, reportedly, claimed the Aussie envoy while also adding he does not have figures on the situation post pandemic.
“But the rate and amount of growth is very encouraging and good,” he, reportedly, claimed.
