
A large section of Arvind Ltd.’s workforce has gone on strike in Ahmedabad, a leading daily reports. Amar Barot, a leader of Majoor Mahajan Sangh, Ahmedabad Textile Labour Union Association averred, “About 7,000 workers have boycotted work since the second shift on Thursday demanding wage revision, bonus and insurance.” The strike has affected operations at Arvind’s Santej plant that manufactures knits, wovens, denims and advanced materials.
Arvind Ltd. said, “The agitation by a section of workers in the wovens and knits division at our Santej facility is illegal with no specific demands. As per our agreement terms of employment are already been agreed upon till FY 2018.” The Majoor Mahajan Sangh, Kalol, to which its workers are affiliated to, has not approved the agitation, it added.
