Mangalore (India)-based Amaaaz Group, which is into sourcing of multiple products across the various industries like minerals, furniture and jewels, is looking for Indian exporters that are able to offer organic apparels with genuine certification. The company is also planning to increase its sourcing from India. Majeed Abdul, MD of the company who recently also visited Indian international Garment Fair (IIGF) to find such exporters told Apparel Resources, “We are into apparel trade from last three years and in this category,we are dealing purely with ‘organic’ only. I feel it is still difficult to get organic clothing suppliers in India. The difficulty is proper certification, as some exporters say that this is ‘organic’ product but in fact it is not,and our clients are very particular about certification.”

Majeed, basically a sourcing and procuring expert, is further planning to expand in apparel sector and initiate his own brand, “Made by Organic”, for Indian as well as overseas market. Ayurveda-medicated clothing line is something the company has on its radar to start with. The company, mainly working with European, American and Middle Eastern markets, tries to keep its minimum order of 1,000 pieces per design. It claims to have nearly 30 clients and very few vendors in India as majorly it is sourcing apparels from China and Turkey. “Though our apparel sourcing from India initiated recently but if we get similar rates and vendors in India, definitely sourcing from the country will be my first priority. Hopefully our business from India, which is currently 30 per cent, will increase substantially,” he added.
