Though trouser exports were never India’s strength, but some players are doing well in this segment having created a niche with international buyers. Some of these players are now looking to increase their capacities not only in stitching but also in backward integration like washing and processing. One such company is 4 Creations in Bangalore, manufacturing one lakh pieces a month, 65 per cent of which is denim and the rest is non denim for export and domestic use. The company is now investing Rs. 3 crore to enhance its washing capacity. Praveen Kumar, MD told Apparel Online, “We are giving end-to-end service for export as well as domestic industry. In Europe, we are manufacturing mainly for Diesel and Nautica brands. We have started production for Street One, a German buyer while in domestic we work for Lee and Wrangler. In the non denim segment we cater to Wills, Arvind brands and Raymond. We are getting really good orders for export for the niche high-end market, where our focus is on new developments in washing, spray techniques, overdyed and value-added products. Overall, the business is good and we are expecting more orders. This is the reason we are expanding, initially with our back-end support and later in stitching capacity.” Although 4 Creations started a washing unit seven months ago in the name of Origean with an investment of Rs. 8 crore, now, they are going in for more advance machines like laser and ozone technology. “We want to work with the latest technology where dyeing without water or with least water will be possible,” says Praveen, an Industrial Engineer, with experience of working in many factories in India and as well as abroad and having good productivity in his units.
