Though it is buoyant news that Bangladesh is geared to double its exports by 2020, the biggest challenge that it will face is working in a sustainable environment, beginning from perfecting safety standards to controlling labour unrests, due to unsatisfactory wages and moving on to address energy conservation. Even though the Bangladesh industry has only recently turned its attention to countering these bottlenecks, TÜV SÜD has been working in these areas relentlessly for the past four years, with its team guiding and training the industry for a better understanding, while also conducting compliance audits, environmental audits and electrical and fire safety audits.

The company is also launching two training certification programs for ISO 15001 and ISO 9001.
“With an experience of over 140 years in quality assurance certification, backed by German excellence, TÜV SÜD is relatively new to the Bangladesh garments industry, having executed its operations four years ago. This, however, never proved to be a challenge, considering our wide global expertise and experience of delivering solutions to an extensive network of customers across the globe. Moreover, this has helped the team in Bangladesh to understand and deliver tailor made solutions which are relevant to market needs that further help us in adapting a proactive approach to grow faster,” reasons Nagaraj.
