As a key component of its expansion plan, Türkiye is highlighting green transformation and presenting itself as a pioneer in the manufacture of sustainable textiles. The largest employment in the nation, the clothing and textile industries, have set high long-term export targets of US $ 40 billion for apparel and US $ 20 billion for textiles.
Türkiye is putting important measures into place to improve industrial digitalisation and sustainability in order to help with this transition. Of them, GreenTIM is a digital information portal that provides export businesses with essential knowledge for compliance and innovation regarding the European Green Deal regulations. Furthermore, EcoTIM collaborates with academic institutions, business leaders, and other relevant parties to address the sustainability infrastructure for textile enterprises, thereby promoting an ecosystem that is all-encompassing for sustainable practices.
With US $ 12 billion in yearly exports, the Turkish textile industry is currently the fifth-largest worldwide textile exporter and the EU’s second-largest provider. Türkiye is concentrating on integrating creative solutions and top-notch production skills to strengthen its competitive edge.
The Istanbul Expo Centre hosted events like the recent Texhibition, which served as a venue for exhibiting these advances. With 539 exhibitors and more than 24,000 attendees, the show promoted networking possibilities and showcased Türkiye’s innovative contributions to the world of textiles. Workshops and seminars emphasised the commitment to sustainability by focussing on important subjects including digital product passports, autumn/winter trends, and the circular value chain.
With the next Texhibition Istanbul (March 5-7, 2025) and Istanbul Fashion Connection (IFCO), its sister show, scheduled for February 5-8, 2025, Türkiye will further consolidate its position as a major centre for textile production. By means of these continuous endeavours, Türkiye hopes to draw in international market participants and restate its dedication to a sustainable and inventive textile sector.
