The ongoing tussle between the management of Nichemtex Limited and its workers, which led to the termination of 27 workers, may soon get resolved.
At least the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGWTN) seems to be putting efforts to find an answer to the conflict.
Led by John Adaji, NUTGWTN listened to the concerns of the textile workers recently and then held a meeting with the management of the textile manufacturing unit.
Besides the issue of non-payment of 13th bonus and non-remittance of 5 per cent deductions, the workers questioned branch leadership too mainly on grounds of maladministration and misrepresentation.
Following the meeting with the management, NUTGWTN informed the workers about branch executive’s voluntary resignation.
The union also assured the workers that in addition to setting up a caretaker committee to run the affairs, the union will also look into the case of expelled workers.
Reportedly, workers were also assured that their arrears will be paid in a year’s time.
