Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister (CM), Punjab has said that no river pollution will be allowed in the proposed PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) park at Koom Kalan in Ludhiana, and all environmental clearances and norms as fixed by the Centre and state pollution control boards will be adhered to.
The villagers have been strongly raising the issue since last few days.
The Central Government has approved the scheme for setting up seven PM MITRA parks in partnership with State Governments.
The CM asserted that the environmental laws will be followed to ensure that there is no pollution of river water or any sort of health hazard.
He also added that,on one hand, the ambitious scheme will help attract investments, while on the other,it will help open new vistas of employment for the youth.
The State Government had already identified the land in Koom Kalan tehsil in Ludhiana district for the project.
