The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and UNICEF came together to organise a seminar focusing on the Mothers@Work project—an initiative dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the maternity rights of women employed in the garment sector.
The seminar, hosted at the BGMEA Complex on Wednesday, drew the participation of 73 mid-level management officials from 34 BGMEA member factories.
The collaborative effort of BGMEA and UNICEF through Mothers@Work aims to assist garment factories in establishing a secure work environment for both working mothers and pregnant women.
Speaking at the event, Miran Ali, Vice President of BGMEA, highlighted the remarkable progress made by Bangladesh’s apparel industry, especially in ensuring workplace safety and advocating for the rights and well-being of workers.
He emphasised that the collaboration with UNICEF on implementing Mothers@Work underscores the industry’s dedication to enhancing the overall well-being of its workforce.
