Sensil ByNature, the ISCC plus certified, premium nylon 6.6 fibre produced by Nilit, has partnered with Maglificio Ripa, an Italian jersey knitter company to develop a new collection of jersey fabrics to reduce the use of fossil feedstock in the production process.
The goal of the premium nylon 6.6 fibre produced by Nilit is to limit carbon footprint and create more awareness about sustainability in the apparel industry.
The technology implies the use of renewable resources, like waste-derived biogas, as raw materials in the initial step of production followed by defining the quantity of bio-feedstock assigned to specific products.
The garment produced by this fabric is just as comfortable to wear with good performance and durability and lowers the carbon footprint.
Moreover, after use, the garment can be easily recycled, limiting landfills and promoting sustainability and circularity.
Maglificio Ripa’s spokesperson said, “Fabrics that push the limits of sustainability in textiles, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and carbon footprint, and promote the use of renewable raw materials. A revolutionary project that takes the concept of sustainability to the next level. Using a certified Biomass Balance (BMB) process, which BASF pioneered, this technology replaces partial fossil feedstock with renewable feedstock.”
