Lenzing retains top spot for its sourcing practices

Lenzing, Austrian cellulosic fibre firm, has retained its place as the highest ranked producer of man-made fibres for its responsible procurement of wood by forestry protection NGO Canopy.

The results that gave the fibre producer the highest possible ‘light green shirt’ ranking, were published in the latest edition of the ‘Hot Button Report’, compiled by the Canadian environmental group.

The report is published every year as a way for the industry to keep track of producers’ credentials and is also aimed at informing companies throughout the supply chain on viscose and rayon purchasing decisions.

The ranking in the report puts Lenzing ahead of other 30 man-made fibre producers which Canopy assessed over the past twelve months of operations.

Lenzing Group has given highest priority to Sustainable wood and pulp sourcing for a very long time. Forest protection is crucial for Lenzing because of the loss of biodiversity and climate change,which are becoming even more important issues.

Lenzing has stated that responsible sourcing and sustainability are key elements of its corporate strategy so as to prevent deforestation and in turn make a significant contribution to climate protection.

Moreover, Canopy’s Hot Button Ranking and Report is now the primary fibre sourcing analysis tool for the 160+ brands, retailers and designers who are part of the CanopyStyle initiative.
