Germany-based Hermes Eco Laboratories (part of Hermes Hancecontrol – quality arm of Otto Group, Germany) is currently in the process of expanding its reach, focusing mainly on north India. Hermes Eco stands tall as an expert in Softline Testing and has its labs in Mumbai for the past 23 years, and in Tirupur for about 12 years now. The company is soon coming up with a lab in Delhi also.
Initially, the company will invest Rs. 50 lakhs in the upcoming Delhi based lab while at a later stage for eco parameter testing, the company intends to invest Rs. 2 crore.
Working with thousands of clients across the textile supply chain, some of their prestigious clients in the north include Jyoti Apparels, Rahul Fashions, and Super House to mention a few.
Dr.Varalakshmy, GM of Hermes Eco Laboratories, who is also a trainer for REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals) for consumer products, shared with Apparel Resources that growing business for them in the north justified the move. She elaborated, “Delhi-NCR is an established garment manufacturing hub and we already have some clients there, and also in nearby areas like Panipat. It is a very important market for us and even now we have a good tie-up for logistics to avoid any delay in pickup regarding testing, as immediate support. But to serve these clients more efficiently and also keeping in mind the expansion of the market we cater to, we are extending our reach and lab support directly to this region.”
Though Otto (Bonprix, Heine) is the main client of the company, it is also associatedwith and approved by other European buyers, like Breuninger, Marcopolo, G-Star and many others.
Hermes Eco Laboratories’ focus is on complete quality assurance for clothing as well as home textiles. More than a testing lab, it functions like an expert or a consultant, supporting the exporters on various parameters, like Pesticides, APEO, AZO etc.
