Underlining the need to develop good practices that are flexible to innovation across nationally determined contributions, particularly for tackling the economic and social impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, the ICCB or the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh has called upon the Government to encourage the micro, small and medium enterprises to embrace appropriate climate mitigation and adaptation measures.
Media reports maintained this adding the ICCB shared this view in its quarterly news bulletin (for April-June 2021) published recently even as the report termed the MSMEs as the foundation of the global economic system.
…they make up 90 per cent of businesses globally, comprise an estimated 80 per cent of employment in many countries and collectively employ two billion people, underlined the report while recommending to create a dedicated and recognised space inside the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) for enhanced consultation and dialogue with business and employers, inclusive of the small-scale firms even as going on to further add that the MSMEs are not yet a dominant voice and presence in the UNFCCC process.
