An incident of fire breakout was reported from the NZ textile mill on 23 February.
According to media reports, the fire started from an electrical short circuit at around 1:15pm, at the export-oriented NZ textile mill, which is located at Balaikhan area of Golakandail union in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.
On getting information of the same, eight units of fire fighters, respectively, from Araihazar, Demra, Adamji and Kanchan reached NZ textile mill and after four-hour-long effort, were able to bring the blaze under control.
Even though no casualties were reported, it had caused extensive damage to NZ textile mill and, reportedly, destroyed large amount of goods including yarn, raw materials, cotton, apparels and machinery.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Director of NZ Group Benazir Ahmed Bhuiyan, reportedly, underlined that even if the amount of damage was being estimated, the loss was thought to be around Taka 30-35 crore, initially.
