
Experts and industry insiders in Bangladesh have stressed the urgency for the country’s apparel industry to embrace sustainable and innovative business models in line with the changing global landscape. They made this observation at a recent event.
Attending the event, the president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Faruque Hassan reportedly underlined the fashion industry was undergoing a transformative shift driven by technology, revolutionising the way fashion is experienced, operated, and produced even as innovations and digitisation are playing a pivotal role in fostering sustainability throughout the process.
Addressing the event, the President of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) Mohammad Ali Khokon on his part reportedly expressed the industry’s aspirations to achieve US $ 100 billion in apparel export by 2030 even as he emphasised the need for highly talented individuals who can lead the apparel sector to success, leveraging the strong backward linkage provided by the textile sector.
