
Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology or BUFT have recently signed a deal to offer diploma courses with an aim to develop the professional skill of employees and middle level managers working in the country’s readymade garment factories.
As part of this agreement, BUFT will offer postgraduate diploma in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Systems, Garment Business Management and Supply Chain Management.
For these courses, which would be of 6 months duration, the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) would, reportedly, select 35 students for each course while the Commerce Ministry would provide the financial support.
As per a press release issued in this direction, Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUFT Ayub Nabi Khan and Director General of EPB Khaled Mamun Chowdhury signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
Attending the signing ceremony, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, reportedly, maintained the Commerce Ministry is always working to help increase Bangladesh’s volume of exports and present Government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will provide all necessary assistance in this regard.
Besides Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Secretary to the ministry Tapan Kanti Ghosh, EPB Vice-Chairman AH M Ahsan, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan, BGMEA Senior Vice-President SM Mannan Kochi, Chairman of the BUFT board of trustees Muzaffar U. Siddique, BUFT Vice-Chancellor SM Mahfuzur Rahman, BKMEA First Vice-President Mohammad Hatem, amongst others, attended the signing ceremony.
