Even as the countrywide coronavirus lockdown continues to be in place in Bangladesh, the Government has allowed all export-oriented industries including the apparel sector to resume operations from 1 August.
Subsequent to the Government decision, workers are coming back to their respective workplaces even as some are still stuck in their respective villages on account of the lockdown.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has, reportedly, assured no action would be taken against those stuck in villages and not being able to report to work still even as it, reportedly, called upon the factory owners to operate their units with workers living nearby.
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh Government has imposed a 14-day countrywide lockdown from 23 July even as it has recently made exceptions for the export-oriented industries, allowing factories to operate from 1 August.
