The Bangladesh Government has recognised and celebrated the achievements of 44 individuals who have significantly contributed to the country’s economy by establishing industries, generating employment opportunities, and boosting the national income.
These outstanding individuals were acknowledged as Commercially Important Persons (CIPs).
This is as per reports, which underlined the event to felicitate the CIPs took place recently, in which Agriculture Minister, Abdur Razzaque, presented the awards as the chief guest.
The CIPs includes prominent figures from across sectors, including the readymade garment and textile industry.
Among the prominent names who have been acknowledged as CIPs are Mohammad Ali Khokon, President of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA); AKM Salim Osman, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA); Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury, President of the Bangladesh Chambers of Industries; Kamran Tanvirur Rahman, former President of the Bangladesh Employers Federation and Rupali Haque Chowdhury, President of the Foreign Investors Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Out of the 44 businessmen honoured, six individuals were conferred the status of CIPs under the ex-officio category, 25 under large industries, 10 linked to medium-sized industries, two affiliated with small industries and one in the micro industries category.
