To save both money and time, now being spent for multiple audits, apparel industry leaders in Bangladesh have recently stressed on a unified code of conduct, to be followed by global buyers.
This is as per reports, which citing BGMEA Vice-President Shahidullah Azim, maintained four major issues, namely well-being of workers, workplace safety, environmental sustainability and transparency, are audited by different brands and retailers in their respective forms while also adding that compliance department officials of the RMG units also get confused, as during majority of the audits, different buyers ask for the same things, but in different manner, as per the BGMEA VP.
“The exporters have to spend a huge amount of money for those audits,” reportedly claimed Azim while adding that different buyers have also asked for different audits, but mainly on the above-mentioned issues.
