In order to lessen its environmental effect across all of its global operations, Active Apparel Group (AAG), a manufacturer of performance apparel for the outdoor lifestyle and active markets, has committed to a more systematic approach.
The company will integrate important environmental policy commitments through its new Environmental Management System (EMS), which was constructed using the ISO14001 Standard Framework. It will also set targets and strategies to minimise the carbon footprint of its operations across China, Australia, and the USA.
After conducting a thorough third-party audit of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, AAG has determined the need for action in a number of important areas. These include cutting back on water use for all company processes, minimising air freight, and reducing Scope 1 energy consumption. In order to continuously improve their decarbonisation activities, AAG is also dedicated to collecting and managing production waste continuously, expanding the use of sustainable materials, and collecting continuous greenhouse gas data.
“AAG has set time-bound and measurable goals in our efforts to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Daniel Hawker, CEO of AAG, in a press release. “We know the majority of the fashion industry’s emissions occur in the supply chain. As manufacturers, we take on this responsibility – we want to not only reduce our own operational emissions but enable our customers to understand and manage their own Scope 3 emissions.”
The company’s continued Responsible Business Strategy, which aims to promote growth and continuous governance as well as social and environmental effect, includes the new EMS. The company also runs an annual third-party audit, the Materiality Assessment, the Supply Chain Traceability Project, the Living Wage Audit by Bureau Veritas, and Circularity and Waste Management. All of these programmes are aimed at promoting good change in the sector.
