New state Telangana is trying to grow in textile sector but facing power shortage as the industry was suffering losses due power cuts to the tune of 30 to 50 per cent. V V Bhujanga Rao, Secretary, Telangana Textile Mills Association has asked the state government to a host of incentives including investment and interest subsidies in the proposed new industrial policy. He also insists to improve power supply. The state has total production of five million bales, but consumes only about one million bales. Association also said that the spinning sector and technical textiles would need a minimum capital investment of 20 per cent and 30 per cent respectively with interest subsidy benefit. The Government should consider promoting mega textile projects with an investment of Rs. 100 crore plus a minimum employment generation for 600.
