Textile and fibre company Teijin Limited is to build a new facility in Thailand to develop a new meta-aramid fibre which it claims will offer the world’s highest level of heat resistance, as well as “excellent” dyeability.
Construction of the new plant on the premises of Teijin (Thailand) Limited in Ayutthaya Province will begin in December, with production set to start in July 2015. Teijin, which is investing JPY4.5 bn (US $ 45 mn) in the project, said the newly developed fibre will strengthen its global presence in the protective apparel market.
Masaya Endo, Teijin Group Executive Officer and General Manager of Teijin’s high-performance fibres business unit said the new type of meta-aramid fibre “strengthens Teijin’s competitiveness in the emerging economies and Asia”.
