With the textile industry being supplied gas for six hours a day, the production volumes of Pakistani textile industry have taken a serious blow as fabric exports from Pakistan have fallen by 30 per cent, avers S M Tanveer, Chairman, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association. He further cited the advantages of the neighboring countries in the form of per unit cost of power, government support on export, investment and production subsidies incentives across the region. In a related announcement that may come across as a relief for textile manufacturers, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced to partially restore gas supply to the general industry which remained cut-off for almost three months.
