
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to revive the country’s textile sector. He recently said this while welcoming David Suddens, CEO, Vlisco Group, at the Presidential Villa.
The Vlisco Group was in Nigeria to invest US $ 200 million in a textile factory. While appreciating company’s efforts, the President said that the country was focused on developing the sector as it would create lot of employment opportunities for its people.
The President added that growing cotton in Nigeria would take the country to the golden days when textile sector offered jobs to thousands of people thereby keeping farmers busy as well as enhancing the economy of the nation.
Robert Petri, Dutch Ambassador to Nigeria, said that he wants to change the supply chain from Asia to Nigeria. He added that he wants to promote the use of Nigerian cotton and also encourage the creative industries in the country to find a voice.
The Dutch Ambassador told the Nigerian President that the visit by the Vlisco Group was a follow-up to the President’s visit to the Netherlands earlier this year.
