Something good for Indonesia’s textile industry!
The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, inaugurated country’s largest integrated viscose rayon production unit on Friday thereby giving a huge boost to Indonesian textile industry.
Set up at an investment of around US $ 1.1 billion, the new Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) unit has a yearly production capacity of 240,000 tonnes.
One of the highlights of the inauguration event was signing of the plaque by the President as well as sealing of the export container that contained 10,190 tonnes of viscose rayon fibre, to be shipped to Turkey.
Besides, another container that had 12,000 tonnes of same material was shipped to Central Java.
Expressing his pleasure over the launch, the President welcomed the investment and said that it would go a long way in boosting country’s textile sector. He also said that Indonesia has its own raw materials and thus has all the potential to race ahead of countries like Vietnam.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, who was also present during the inauguration, commented that it’s just one of the many steps taken to enhance the competitiveness of the labour-intensive sector.”
