Under the agreement, Arvind Limited will set up a Rs. 300-crore apparel manufacturing facility in Dahegam. The unit will produce over 24 million garments.
The MoU was signed by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Arvind Limited’s Executive Directors Kulin Lalbhai and Punit Lalbhai.
“We are excited to support the Gujarat Apparel policy whose aim is to create 1,00,000 jobs in the state. We plan to commence commercial production in the fourth quarter of 2018 and create 10,000 jobs, a majority of which will be for women,” said Kulin.
Kulin added that such a conducive policy will help Gujarat to emerge as a major destination for garmenting.
Meanwhile, Grasim will establish two man-made fibre plants one each at Vilayat GIDC and Kharach-Kosamba in Bharuch District with an investment of Rs. 4,100 crores.
The two facilities of Grasim Industries are likely to commence operations by 2018 and 2020, respectively. The units will create direct and indirect job opportunities for 1,300 people in the state.
“While Grasim’s projects will bring big investment, Arvind’s venture will help the Government get closer to its goal of job creation,” reportedly said a State Government official.
